Khalil Ebrahim Kanoo W.L.L. was established, marking the foundation of the Group’s automotive legacy.

Early Years

Appointed as dealer for leading international brands including Buick, Goodyear Tyres, and Champion Plugs.

1969

International Motor Trading Agency W.L.L. was established and appointed as the exclusive distributor for Mazda in Bahrain.

2007

Appointed as the exclusive distributor for Proton in Bahrain.

2007

Appointed as the exclusive distributor for Valugard.

2013

Appointed as the distributor for Geely vehicles in Bahrain.

2016

Became the exclusive distributor for Veedol lubricants.

2017–2018

Established a huge 16,000 square meters; 46-bay state-of-the-art service centre in Tubli.

2018

IMTA's 50 years of association with Mazda and ITOCHU

2018

Opened a new Mazda showroom in Sitra, inaugurated by IMTA, ITOCHU, and Mazda Management on 18th October 2018.

Jul-2020

Commenced operations as the distributor for JAC Motors (Passenger & Commercial Vehicles) in Bahrain.

2020

Appointed as the exclusive distributor for Sailun Tyres.

May-2020

Launched a Quick Service Center in Riffa, expanding fast-service capabilities.

Nov-2020

Appointed as the exclusive distributor for ELITO batteries.

Nov-2022

Opened a new Mazda showroom in Arad, inaugurated by IMTA, ITOCHU, and Mazda Management on 27 November 2022.

Dec-2022

Opened the JAC Motors showroom in Arad, inaugurated on 21 December 2022.

Aug-2024

Entered into an association with Strong Automotive Batteries (India).

Nov-2024

Launched BAIC, the company’s third automobile brand, with the opening of the BAIC showroom in Tubli on 14 November 2024.

Jan 2026

As part of a strategic realignment, IMTA was rebranded as Khalil Kanoo Motors W.L.L.
